Chen, Peng
Profile
Dr. Peng Chen is a professor and doctoral tutor at Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering (NIMTE, CAS) and leading a team working on advanced polymeric fiber materials. His research interest was initially on the structure and rheology of self-reinforced engineering plastics (ICCAS, 2001-2006), then on the production of ultrahigh strength polyester fibers via the liquid isothermal bath assisted high-speed melt-spinning process (NCSU, 2006-2009), and now on the modified fibers (e.g., melt-spun PLA modified fibers, wet-spun chitosan fibers, and gel-spun UHMWPE fibers). He has been awarded with both fundamental and industrial R&D projects, including NSFC, “863”, ROCS, etc. Invented by him and developed by a joint program between NIMTE and company, the bio based and degradable PHBV/PLA fibers (HesuTM) has been listed in “30-Year Roadmap of Bio Based Fibers and Feedstocks in China” (CCFA). Dr. Chen has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers and filed 27 China patent applications, with 22 China patents and 2 US patents issued. He is a member of CAS Youth Innovation Promotion Association, Zhejiang Provincial Key Innovation Group, IUPAC East Asia Subcommittee and services as IP consultant of Ningbo intermediate people's court.
